Don't miss this place in MS! Small bar/restaurant but still accommodated our group of 10, ages 8-64. Server was friendly and service was prompt. I tried the vegetable philly and it was amazing. Right price for the right amount. This would also be a great place just to come and drink and relax.

Huge disappointed. We will never eat here again. Over priced tasteless food. We went in for an early dinner. When we got there only two other tables were accompanied & already eating. The service was so slow. I wouldn't want to even see what it'd be like when it's busy. $13. 00 for a Buffalo burger and another $1.00 for cheese. Which wouldn't be a bad price if the burger meat had some seasoning on it and came with some fries. Nope, a very small bag of "lightly salted" (no salt) chips. $9.00 Regular hamburger, again with the no seasoning & the same chips. Not worth it. $9.00 Mile high sandwich, which was to be "thin sliced Prime rib, piled high." Now that was a joke. Meat to bun ratio was way off. If you're going to say piled high please do so. At the very least have more meat than bun. The Prime rib wasn't bad but again with the lack of seasoning & the same chips. So not worth it.

I'm bumping this little place up a star due to their stubborn insistance on no changing over the years. Okay, I confess I've just been here for the first time, but when you walk through the door, I defy anyone to find evidence of what decade we're in. Is it the 80's, 90's, aughts, teens? Look around and you'll see it doesn't matter at The Keg. Well, they do have a decent selection of craft beers, which makes them pretty relevant, but all the police badges on the walls? Been there since I was a kid, probably. Not sure why they call themselves a "lounge" - this is a bar, plain and simple. They might just kick you out for ordering a martini. We got a grilled chicken sandwich and a burger. The food was fine - not particularly memorable...maybe 3 stars. Service was quite attentive and friendly. They had my Missouri Tigers on TV, so that was a big bonus. You can't go wrong if your in the mood for a stalwart bar with bar food. Great location in Manitou Springs, too.

Reasonable food, but service was fairly slow. Take it or leave it. Got the veggie cheese steak which did have a lot of veggies, but it was just okay.

Great atmosphere and really good food. Went here for dinner while in Manitou Springs for the weekend and this place was recommended by the staff at the bed and breakfast nearby. My husband had bangers and mash and I had the chicken friend chicken breast with mashed potatoes, both were yummy! Service was good, prices were reasonable and I highly recommend this place.

  • Kyle S.

I've been coming here all my life. There is seriously nothing bad I could say about this place. Friendly staff, great food, wide range of drink selection, and they have a great location in downtown Manitou Springs. I definitely recommend stopping in!

    (5)
  • Jennifer A.

The sign outside says "Best Food in Town", so we popped in for a beer and some cheese bread. The cheese bread is melted cheese on a burger bun. The beer was great, the help was surly and overall I felt uncomfortable as a tourist. Won't be back.

A new tradition has been established - Small Business Saturdays will be spent by supporting Manitou Springs world famous Keg, where any time during the year you can have the best mixed berry salad on this planet of ours. If greens aren't your style, the hamburgers will not disappoint. So, get out there and support the locals and enjoy great food, l reat spirits and great community.

Stopped in here for a visit to Manitou Springs, as the sign advertised that they had the best food in town. I, however, remain unconvinced. Got a Patty Melt, which didn't taste bad, but wasn't anything particularly impressive either. Comes with a bag of plain potato chips, which is about as uninteresting as sides get. The server was friendly, I'll say that for sure. What really stuck this place in the rating I've given it was the half hour+ wait, when two other groups got their orders before us. I understand that burgers take a while to cook (I've worked in a few kitchens in my lifetime), but these other folks ordered burgers as well, so I'm not sure what the deal was. If I ever take another trip to Manitou Springs, I most likely will only return for beer.

Cool atmosphere. Took 50 minutes to get our food though. Lame. You'd think a dive bar with 30 some dollar steaks would be a little more on the ball.

Came by after tackling the Incline and Barr Trail, twice. Needed adult beverages and nourishment stat so visited this great hole in the wall. Both had the turkey burger special and it came with this very unique cranberry mayo. We loved the mayo and the turkey burgers were moist and delicious. The spinach artichoke dip was fresh and so were veggies and crackers it came with.

Casual bar if you are looking for a place to grab a burger and watch sports. Skip the famous cheese bread. What a rip off. The bartender was really cool even though we weren't drinking (there were no seats we had to sit at the bar) I got the buffalo burger on his recommendation. It was good, but I'm sad it comes with bagged chips instead of fries.

    (3)
  • Jo L.

The Keg seems like a place to have a few drinks, or maybe several drinks. THEN eat some food to balance out the alcohol. This is a smallish dive but has plenty of seating, for the size. The menu is a limited affair of salads and sandwiches. I've never partaken in the food, only the libations. My husband had the meatloaf sandwich and thought it was ok. Along with your usual water-beer options (Coors and their ilk) there is an ok selection of Colorado crafties on tap. The few times I've stopped in are "off" times, between lunch and dinner time. The times I've come in were not during tourist season, and so I've never experienced this place when it's busy. I've always had good service, no complaints. There are a few table games to occupy ones time and a giant mural of Marley on the wall in the back. Wait. . . was it Bob?

    (3)
  • Mary-Jane A.

If you looking for a reasonably priced place to eat this is your place. Hamburgers are freshly made and really tasty. Service is friendly and good. Came with seven other people and they seated us comfortably. Would come here again.

  • Marissa A.

The bartender was so nice and prompt and friendly and we ordered the grilled cheese with bacon which was delicious! The atmosphere had a towny bar feel to it which I personally like, but it's definitely extremely casual! I would recommend a stop in! Good prices!

Called to try to put in a Take-Out order. The woman who answered the phone rudely told me that they don't do take out. Please update your Yelp page because it clearly says y'all do Take-Out. They won't be receiving my business after this.

The mixed berry salad is phenomenal. This is a small local hang out with typical drinks but unexpected high quality of food. The few times I've been here the service has been good and the food great. Food is a little pricey.

  • Kim G.

We did not eat here but the drinks are great! Nice strong pour and a very nice buzz after 2 cocktails! They also have a trivia game, Ms. PacMan and a pool table! Great little joint to have drinks and the food smelled awesome!

To try the buffalo burger or not to try the buffalo burger?!?! I went back and forth for a bit and figured well I'm in CO (from Chicago visiting for Thanksgiving) AND they say they have THE best buffalo burger...why wouldn't I try it?? So try it I did! Holy crap this thing is delish! I had mine with swiss and bacon (a great addition). The burger is so juicy, so good, so large, so perfect! The chips on the side, ehhh, whatever, but I wasn't there for the chips so who cares. The day I was there (the day after Thanksgiving) was super crowded, but I understand how touristy this area is and I get that they were so busy. The servers are very sweet and pretty quick...the bartender was kinda bitchy (again, I understand because of how busy it was but, be nice lady). The keg isn't a pretty place, it's a burger joint with a couple of TV's, a bathroom that scorches your hands when you wash them, and a lot of beer. I like places like that.

This place is really a bar that serves decent food. Their menu focuses on burgers, salads and dinner items like steak or chicken breast. I chose the Keg Chicken. A chicken breast with some crab meat on top and covered with a cheese sauce. It was pretty good. Served with a side of vegetables and rice. Several of the people dining with me ordered the burgers and one ordered the berry salad, which looked good. Service was polite. Most of us ordered micro-brew tap beers which was a nice option. I would come back but would not go out of my way to do so. A bit on the expensive side for what you get.

    (3)
  • Julie J.

This is much better than "bar food." The quesadillas were crisp and cheesy. The terriyaki chicken breast was incredibly tender. Buffalo burger was juicy and cooked perfectly with grilled mushrooms and onions added for only a buck. Service is a little bit slow, but it's all cooked fresh in front of you so worth the wait. Service was very good. Prices were reasonable. This is the real deal.

Decent no-frills burgers and beer. Mountain-style ambiance.

    (3)
  • Jennifer Y.

The food here is pretty decent, however not everything on the menu is your typical cheap deep-fried bar food. I ordered a perfectly cooked buffalo burger which I thoroughly enjoyed despite it taking longer than it should of, considering it wasn't busy. If I hadn't of enjoyed the burger so much I would say it isn't worth the price. It may not be the stereotypical cheap bar food crap, but it's still a bit over-priced for what you get. They do have a decent selection of food on the menu along with drinks and micro-brews. Nice little divey place to get good eats and drinks. But not good enough to drive out of my way to visit.

    (3)
  • Tim H.

Nice enough bar, food okay. Atmosphere seemed very Manitou Springs. I got a seasonal berry salad with blue cheese on it, but the cheese was not very piquant. Not enough bat-shit, The "seasonal" berries are the same all year round according to the server. Still a good salad, just needed better blue cheese. I was not overly impressed with anything, although I liked the decor.

The big plus of this place for us was that the plain burger amd buffalo burger were big and very good. Loved that you could get a grilled green chile added. Minuses were that it was slow, a bit expensive, and we really were hoping to get fries with our burgers but they weren't on the menu, just potato chips for a side.

How could you go wrong with this awesome place. A good place to bring your family or friends the food its okay not the best. It's a place where the old saying is good place to go grub. We tried their buffalo burger and it was not exactly what we were expecting but it was good.

Couldn't get service. Waitress finally came over after about 10 minutes to tell us they were running a little behind, which we appreciated. But didn't have the sense to at least take our drink or appetizer order. So we went to another restaurant. 2 stars for a cool name but they are losing money due to poor customer service.

Two can dine for $23.95 on Wednesday night's. You choose from a whole side of the menu. This place is a great locals spot and has an awesome staff. The food was absolutely amazing and the draft beers were fresh and delicious. Highly recommended!!!

First experience, we just dropped in cause we were shopping in Manitu. The second time however we drove 20 minutes (we live in north Springs) to find the place with the bear outside. We got the last 2 seats at the bar because it was packed, not really sure why, and the lady next to me had this fantastic looking sandwich. So I ordered the same thing (a Reuben if I recall) and it was bomb!!! I'm not much if a beer connoisseur so I got blue moon, but my boyfriend had their Alaskan brew and said it was very good.

I've been coming here all my life. There is seriously nothing bad I could say about this place. Friendly staff, great food, wide range of drink selection, and they have a great location in downtown Manitou Springs. I definitely recommend stopping in!

There's a sign that boast best food in town. They're not kidding. Best food I've ever had at a dive bar.
